Clearing Energies

I saw this today on Facebook and can certainly vouch this is true. It doesn’t mean the item is haunted forever,  or even that it’s a bad thing (I will come back to that).
There are so many ways to cleat negative energy,  and most witches have their favorites.  For example, of I am clearing my house or my space, I will smudge with sage.  If I am clearing an object is salt water or lemon. I know a few that use running water like a stream,  or in the ocean,  even some that use fire or just candle flame. Really the choice is yours.
In the event of an object I like to use lemon I will use salt water if I have no lemon, works just as well. Or lemon salt water if you would like.  I have used each of these means and to be honest if you mediate for a minute and listen the Goddess and your instincts will tell you what to do.
One lemon, cut on half, is perfect.
White and Blue candle
For all my workings, I chose to use my alter when  I can.  This is my clean and sacred space where I can work uninterrupted.
First light incense, this will help lift your prayers and request to the Goddess as well as clear the air of any lingering energies.
Light a candle, or if you have it, two. White for protection and light,  and blue for calming, understanding and healing. Many chose to light a black candle as ut helps absorb negative energy. (Good if you feel the energy or spirit is malicious).
These two things,  although not necessary, help create the environment and focus your energies on the task at hand.
Once  ready take the item you wish to cleanse in your hands.
Imagine the spirit or energy as a flowing moving ball if color wrapped around the object. Engulfing it entirely.
Once you can visualize the energy you can take your cut lemon to the object.
Rub the lemon (cut side on the object) in small counter clockwise circles. As you do so, see the colored energy breaking apart. Splintering and shattering before disipating into nothing. Evaporating into the as it around you. No longer whole, no longer powerful, free to move about and be released into the world.
Continue this cleaning and rubbing until the colored energies has been completed scrubbed off every inch and nook of the object.  (For odd shapes you can’t reach, squeeze lemon juice into the air to melt the energy away.)
You can say a spell as you do this to help enhance your workings if you like. Mine is pretty simple:

From this object I ask to flee
Any energies that have cling to thee
Release yourself and just be free
As I will it, so mote it be

I continue this simple chant and semi circular cleansing until I can no longer see the energy clinging to the object, or feel energy other than my own in the object.

For good measure I pass the object through my incense smoke and ask the Goddess to hear my prayers and cleanse this item so I may use it for my own purposes. I meditate briefly and thank the Goddess before concluding my ritual, blowing out my candles and leaving my circle.

I let the lemon juice sit until I want to use the object, at which point I will rinse off the lemon if it is sticky feeling.

I mentioned earlier about leaving the energies. Not all energies, and spirits, are bad. Some make you feel good, make you feel more powerful and can aid your magic (ancestral magic is a great example). You can chose to keep the energies in the item so long as you are aware it could effect the object and it’s ability to hear and do your bidding as opposed to the other beings.

Another example of lemon magic.
