Happy Mabon!

Last night I set a very simple alter at my kitchen table for my family to celebrate together.  As I was finishing we had an unforcasted thunderstorm.  It filled my soul and lifted my spirits. I took the opportunity to get grounded. (My neighbor shot me a confused look as I stood barefoot in the pouring rain in a tee shirt, but whatever).

It felt amazing.  Today is the celebration of Mabon, the day of balance between the sun and the moon. A day to give thanks and reflect on our hard work,  to prepare to reap what we sow, and plan for the winter.

Time to celebrate the harvest.  Have a feast, give thanks and be blessed.

I’ve used this recipe for a few years now and love it! Below are a few other fun ideas and a rites.

Like I have said in several of my posts,  it’s about what feels right.  Celebrate harvest.  The reeping and the emergence of the Chrone

To Bring Abundance

I had a crazy clarity in thought this morning and vision for my life.  Like a crazy ah ha moment.  In light of that, I thought I’d take advantage of the still waxing pre-full moon to speak and manifest abundance into my new endeavors.  Waxing moons are the time to bring things in,  start new things, and call abundance and blessings into reality.

When I was picking wood (we just cleared a bunch of wood and brush from our backyard) I was drawn to the lilac tree that fell last week. So I made my ritual fire of the Lilac tree (I even put aside a perfect piece to try and make my own wand!), a few Applewood pieces, and a few sprigs from a pine tree. You don’t have to get fancy or have special woods unless a particular ritual calls for it. Some woods or items though do carry certain types of energy and will enhance magick of that variety. It’s not necessary though.  Your power is within you already.

*side note- Oh my Goddess! Have to stop my blog post for a minute…

I was typing this and thought I would look up lilac wood and it’s magick properties… Lilac brings the root energy of expansion and growth. Sacred to Mercury whose domain is wiring, speech,  song,  reason, and travel. It is well suited for magick of attraction,  imagination,  information,  concentration, and intellectual pursuits.

Wand Woods

I wasn’t going to get personal but now I have to share the story and what I was asking for.  When I was talking about clarity today it was this; I decided to take the leap and open my consulting company.  I created a landing page and outline for 3 courses I will offer. I also determined to write an EBook and publish it.  I was manifesting my success in these creative pursuits, and thanking the Goddess for revealing my path. (Lilac wood was drawn to and for me!!! 🙆 WTF!)

It’s been 6 months since my last abundance ritual.  On the New Moon I planted my desires, I asked for guidance and some security in my finances  (I’m talking getting evicted and shot shut offs and food boxes) and to become a fuller better version of myself.  By the full moon I was introduced to a part time business with ItWorks. Fast forward to now I’m earning an average of 500$ a month extra with it. It changed everything and I thank the Goddess daily for my blessings.  I also asked for that business to excel to fund my start up.  I thanked the Gods and the Universe in advance for bringing me wealth,  and the freedom to pursue my dreams and passions.   Anyhow now that I’m not so geeked out in love by the signs I was given I’ll get back to the rituals I did and you can do for manifesting in your life.

Orange peel spell

Oranges are bright, and inviting they connect to attraction,  personal strength,  power,  adapting, luck and shown changes.  Orange oil is common in abridge and self love magick.  Many people use it though for Career spells (as I did) because it’s an action color. This includes anointing with Orange oil or oil baths, satchels. .etc. I was far more simple in this quick ritual.

I grabbed an orange, regular size,  and a Sharpie. On the peel off the Orange I wrote the things I wanted to draw into my life: wealth, game,  jobs,  power,  work,  love,  light,  family and fun.  Holding the orange I felt the words and thoughts filling the fruit from the peel.  Collecting that energy from the universe and pulling it right into the orange in my hand.  I envisioned the fruit now being full of power and the energy of all those things bursting inside the orange ready for the taking.

At my ritual fire,  I peeled the orange and threw the pieces onto the flames.  As I watched the peels begin to shrivel and burn I spoke:

To the Goddess I send out my request, as this burns so does my passion.  All I seek, you have available and ready for me.  I ask now to claim it. You are gracious and divine.

With the pieces of peel, I would think about the requests written on the peel. I envisioned what my life looks like with those pieces now firmly in place.  Complete this meditation until the orange is completely peeled.

The energy you called into the fruit is now exposed and ready.  The Gods made it available and you have manifested it in the orange you hold.

Goddess, thank you for the blessings you provide and the abundance of nature. You have filled this gift with source energy and the abundance  that I am seeking, you have placed before me to claim.  I am humble.  You are gracious.

I then ate the orange feeling that energy flow into my body.  That power flowinf through and connects to my nerves,  my muscles and bones before filing and fusing to each cell in my body.  The future and life I requested my body can now receive. I am ready.

Once I felt fully alive and empowered,  I focused on my new life and the success I would have,  how it would now be different. Until a clear vision was revealed to me.  Once firmly in place I thanked the Goddess for ask she has given me and thanked her for continuing to provide.

I let the ritual fire contributer to burn very low and tampted it down to coals before going inside.

Once inside I completed my ritual by lighting a green candle asking for wealth and money to be further drawn to me. I thanked the Goddess for  bringing success to me.

This candle burns bright,  and into the night.  Green like money, the candle glows. With its light, my fortune grows, free from worry, free from woes. As I will it, so mote it be and Goddess willing multiply it by three

Everyone does what feels right to them.  This was mine tonight. Then Full Moon thanks tomorrow. If you like this feel free to use it. Sorry I got rambly lol.

Happy Solstice!!

I have set my altar, created my bonfire and written my blessings.

image

Summer Solstice is a time for clarity,  purification,  healing and beginning of a new phase or chapter. Transformations.

Write your prayers on a slip of paper, things you want to start or end. Bring to fruition. Visualize and see this reality. Once you have a clear vision light your prayers on fire in the ritual fire. Imagine your wishes being carried to the Goddess with the smoke of the fire. See this reality and hold it in your heart. Thank the Goddess for hearing your prayer and give thanks for what had come already.

Full Moon and Solstice!

So here in Oregon we are about 2 hours away from the full Strawberry Moon.  If you are on the East Coast you have already seen it, and hopefully set out your crystals to charge, done your full moon blessings, cleansing, clearing banishing ritual, and all of those other such full moon activities.

image

The full moon and the Summer Solstice occurring on the same day is exceptionally rare, which makes it a great time for Magick, powerful magick. It’s a time to celebrate, to enjoy the bounty that the goddess provides. A time to be outdoors, and to fully enjoy nature.Have a giant bonfire, make beautiful suncatchers, praise the nourishment that the sun provides to all life on earth. Celebrate the energy it imparts to your soul.

image

Set out your magic tools and let them charge under the solstice Sun. Let them fill with that healing radiant light. Create solar water to keep on your altar, or to use for cleansing and purification for various rituals. Solar water’s pretty easy. Get some sea salt and water,  place it in a bowl, and put it outside under the midsummer sun at the time of solstice. Keep there for at least an hour. Here on the West Coast that’ll be 3:34 p.m. Let the summer fun begin.

Celebrate being together, being outdoors, and the beauty that surrounds us every day.   Happy solstice!

Witches don’t take holidays off

This week I put in my days off for Litha (Summer Solstice). I was nervous my boss would ask me what I wanted the time for, or question the mid week date range . Then I just figured I’d tell them I was camping.  For a split second I thought, I will just tell them it’s one of my religious holidays. Then it’s protected, right?

Not a chance,  at least not in my company.  I don’t think I am the only witch who can’t come all the way out of the broom closet. I work in a small tight knit office (15 people maybe), I also work under a deeply devote religious man. The rift this would create would after not too long cost me my job.

Not being able to be fully open and honest in who I am is a constantly struggle.  Having to hide a part off myself I feel so strongly connected to is awful.  Some days it feels like I’m pretending to be someone I’m not.  All over the world, and through the vastness of the interwebs, I’ve read similar sentiment from other witches. Although Wiccan is a recognized religion it still is not a very commonplace or accepted religion. Some days I have a gentle yet tangible shame creep over me that I do not openly proclaim my religion and my higher power. I don’t openly praise the Goddess and aknowledge the gifts I was given.  Other religions display and discuss their faith and savior openly, proudly, and without reservation. It makes me feel like a bad witch, like I don’t love my divine as much since I do not publicly and openly proclaim her.  This reservation though stems from history.  Centuries of oppression, murder, and torture of those who openly celebrated had taught us all to be secluded and covert in our practice.

image

As a teen I had three other friends interested in learning and practicing with me. I had my own little coven and safe place. People I could talk to about my journey and beliefs.  Once that friend group dissolved I became a solitary witch. Prior to the Internet becoming an everyday constant, finding other witches was not near as easy. You had to be willing to tell people your beliefs and leave yourself open to find one. Risking scrutiny and hatred. People telling me I was going to hell, I was bad, I was evil, witches are evil..you name it. I lost friends and family in being open. That can leave you jaded.

image

Now through the safety and expanse of the internet, we can connect and talk to thousands of like minded beings in safe forums and groups. We can share and pull resources from one another,  and share in private and personal pages freely. It blows me away just how many of us there are. It saddens me that we are so spread out and guarded that we cannot find each other and connect in local communities. That we are still a prosecuted group. We cannot feel safe enough in our jobs and lives to share our faith.

To those that do, thank you. You are paving the way for those of us still scared to be fully ourselves. To those of you seeking others. We are here, we are ready and we accept you.

5 ways to know if a spell is right

I spent many years reading and studying, take notes from various practioners. Many of whom I still follow and study today.  Of all things,  I felt most in love with candle magick. I find candle light romantic,  spooky,  other worldly and most of all calming.  I learned which colors to use for what,  when a certain spell should be cast, which items should be used. ..All the finer points of witch crafting. Now as time has gone on and I have become closer to myself,  I have finally figured out how to tell if it’s the right time for a ritual and if it’s doing what it should.  I figured I would share them with you.

1. You will feel compelled to cast the spell. Something inside will call out to you that is is time for magick. More specifically a certain spell or at the very least type of spell will draw you. (If you are new or tongue-tied like I was you may still need to look up your spells). Tonight for example I felt the urge strong. The candles I needed, the words the rocks the location…All if it came to me as I cast the spell on my heart with little thought as they came from my lips. Not the way I normally do it or tools I use but right tonight.

2. When ritual time comes and you firm your circle you will feel empowered and calm.  This is one way to tell you are yapping into the Goddess and in tune with your own energies.

image

3. Early on and when you are new to casting some if it may feel clumsy or awkward, but even in these stages it will feel right. Each movement or line coming together like a beautiful puzzle.

4. You will be able to clearly envision the results of your spell and the outcome you desire. Your energy so focused on the intent it’s as though you see the future you have just created.

5. You will feel at peace, alive and passionate. You will feel heard and validated by the Goddess and the Universe. At completion you will feel strong and calm.

Blessed be and Happy Casting

Knot Spells

FB_IMG_1463089888224

I have mentioned sympathetic Magick in other posts but I will talk about it a little bit. Magick is within you, your own energies. It’s not in the candles, stones..etc those energies are enhancements, means to increase your energy and focus. Now, let me say, I use candles, stones, potions..etc but I do not let them hinder my ritual if I don’t have a certain color or item.
This is a great way to channel your energies and Magick that can be done anywhere. Knot work is great when your intent is to stop, bind, or prevent something. Also great when you wish to bring things to you. (Like this handy knot spell from pinterest). I prefer cord or jute some type of more natural material but anything works in truth.

You are Magick…Be Blessed

Love Oil

image

Last week I wrote about infused oils. Here is an infused oil I recently made. They don’t have to be as full. It can just be one or two oils for a distinct purpose.

*I am a believer in the rule of three, I do not practice rituals that go against people’s wills and wishes (in nearly all situations..) It is a powerful mix though to bring love to you or enhance the love you have.  This could be a tincture,  I chose an oil so that I could turn it into a massage oil for my husband and I.  This can also be used to annoint candles for use in love, relationship and fertility magic.

Blessed Be
